In 2004, shell suits were named Britain’s worst ever fashion crime, beating puffball skirts, leggings and white stilettos in a BBC poll. The shiny two pieces, which were also found to be dangerously flammable, topped a list of the ultimate British fashion faux pas. The top ten, overseen by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine, also included shoulder pads, string vests, stonewashed jeans and dungarees
