On this day in fashion history

In 2003, valuable pieces of jewellery, worth a total of £40,000, that once belonged to Marilyn Monroe were stolen from an exhibition devoted to the screen legend.  A gold ring, featuring an ‘M’ motif and encrusted with a diamond, and a gold bangle were taken from the Roald Dahl Gallery on London’s South Bank. A man was arrested in the gallery.
