On this day in fashion history

In 2001 John Galliano was awarded a CBE for his services to the fashion industry. He was honoured and thrilled beyond relief about being named in the Queens honours list.  His plan was to design a suit especially for the occassion but in the end he decided on a morning suit without a shirt underneath it. Being a fashion guru and all, amongst all the celebrations of his award, he took the time to notice what the Queen was wearing and praised her style saying “I think she’s sublime,” he said. “She has created a style of her own – so has the Queen Mother. I have fantasised about designing for them both, but I don’t think I could take that job on”

  1. Amazing. John Galliano isn’t fashions most favourite person right now…but I have so much respect for him – he is a damn good fashion designer.
