2001, Marc Jacobs spoke out about the effect terrorism would – or rather would not – have on fashion. “I won’t change the clothing to address the fears that people have,” he told USVogue. “I think it was Saint Laurent who said that luxury is a thing that dreams are made of. It all seems like folly when there are so many things going on in the world, but fashion was never meant to solve the world’s problems. It’s about indulgence. Without music, art, film, and fashion, there wouldn’t be a beautiful world.”
