On this day in fashion history

In 2004 Erin O’ Connor spoke about her striking features. “I have quite an unusual face, so when I look bad I look really bad,” she said. “I’ve never been a fresh-faced beach babe, nor could I ever be – it’s not my version of modelling. I’m about angles. Criticism started early for me, and most of it came from myself. I never acquired the physical attributes I thought I was supposed to have: breasts, flowing hair. I’ve always had a reputation as more of a personality model, which suits me fine. I may not be easy on the eye, but I will not change myself to make anybody feel better.”
