I swear by Revlon and Essence (they make up majority of my makeup bag and have earned their spot there) and thanks to my beauty girls (who I follow closely because of their awesome reviews which help me choose) GeeWhiskers, Lipgloss Kisses and Miss Claira Bella I am dying to try the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.
The colour Emma is wearing is going to be mine 
I’m no makeup fundi but from what I’ve read the balm stays, which is always most welcome.
I was lucky enough to receive a goodie bag from AFI SA and Mercedes Benz on my trip and of all the goodies in the bag, the one that stood out was MAC Rebel Lipglass – to say I am obsessed with this colour is an understatement. I wore it everyday in Cape Town and have it on today.
Being a light pink girl and wanting to move away from the light shades, this couldn’t have come at a better time. This is also the first time I am trying a MAC lipgloss because I’m quite a cheap gloss girl, my mentality has been all wrong thinking they’re all one in the same.
Now that I have tried MAC, I am dying to take a look instore at the other colours available – this gloss lasts and has such a beautiful colour to it no matter how much you apply. I apply two coats to get close to the bottle colour (its a stunning grape) and find that I reapply every three hours or so. It is quite thick in texture but not at all sticky.
According to my MAC friend and pro, this was a limited edition colour and also came in a lipstick and polish..
And just look how amazing it is – I want the polish and lipstick, and like a ton more of the gloss.

The new Lancome Rouge In Love ad features the lovely Emma Watson. I quite like this lady (only recently watched all the Harry Potters, I know! sometimes I’m like really behind) and she grew up to be a stunning young lady with huge talent. I love the haircut and she looks as gorgeous as ever in this ad. Go Emma

Vera Wang has joined the cosmetics world by putting her name on a new makeup line for Kohl’s called Simply Vera

Marilyn Monroe is an all round inspiration in most aspects, including style, hair, makeup and most recently a movie about her life. Now MAC Cosmetics is joining the Marilyn party by launching a limited Marilyn Monroe inspired range. It is said to be made up of about 30 beauty goodies including lipsticks, eyeshadows, eyeliners and nail polish.
I’m sure we’ll be seeing some deep reds and extra dark black eyeliners. I’m excited to see the range which is set to hit the shelves around October.
Currently in store is the Nicki Minaj/ Ricky Martin Viva Glam range which is all about the lips and proceeds from sales go towards a special charity.

I mentioned in my counter experience post that I received some skin care goodies from the lovely ladies at Estee Lauder, and I have now been using the products religiously for a whole week and am now ready to report back. I am also proud to announce that after a week of everyday skin care, I am now in the habit of it and can’t go without my washing and toning
PERFECTLY CLEAN SPLASH AWAY FOAMING CLEANSER
This is one of my favorites because nothing beats a nice cleanse after a long, sweaty day (it’s been ridiculously hot in Durban) this little beauty leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. A small drop is all you need at a time to wash your face with a gentle yet refreshing foam.
PERFECTLY CLEAN FRESH BALANCING LOTION
Does everything a toner should and more, leaves my face feeling cool and smooth. A night is not complete until this cleanser has been used. Has a nice, but not over powering fragrance and is alcohol free.
HYDRATIONIST MAXIMUM MOISTURE CREAM
Can be used to your own preference, I choose to use this in the morning before applying my makeup as it really does provide maximum moisture and is working on my very dry, flaky patch on my nose and forehead. My face definately feels hydrated and silky soft after use
ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR
I can see why this little brown bottle is one of Lauder’s most popular products, heaven in a bottle and the change you need to make to your daily regime. I use this at night and while I was told that I can use it in the morning and night, I prefer it at night. It gives my skin a glow and works it’s magic during the night.
And that’s it, all my products have come in use and have convinced me once again of Estee Lauders quality and difference. What are your favorite products?

So I attended my first counter experience at Estee Lauder Pavillion and it was a day of fab ladies, luxurious products and learning.
I arrived to a friendly, warm welcome from the ladies and then the fun began
The bubbly Nicolene was in charge of skin care and she did a great job of explaining everything to me as well as left my skin feeling soft and looking radiant.
She started off by removing my makeup then moved onto using Idealist Dual Action, which buffs the skin and acts as a thermal exfoliator. She then moved onto Advanced Night Repair, which is a MUST HAVE for all ladies, during the day it protects and at night time it repairs, what more could you ask for from a little brown bottle? The next step was using an illuminator which is known to be an even skin tone corrector.
Top Tips I learnt about skin care
- An outward motion should be used when applying all skin care products.
- A serum’s purpose is to repair any damage
- A moisturiser nourishes and hydrates the skin
- Toner is IMPORTANT
- Exfoliator is the way to go for dry, flaky areas
- SPF is important for everyday use, even when not in the sun
If you value your skin then be sure to adapt a good skin care regime into your lifestyle!
Next I was introduced to the talented and beautiful Nono who was going to be doing my makeup
This process included
1: Double Wear Concealer, also contains SPF 10
2: Estee Lauder foundation in Shell (my skin tone) it also includes an SPF 10, provides medium to full coverage and doesn’t clog pores
3: Smokey Eye, she used Estee Lauder Bronze Dunes pallette which is a lovely mix of soft nudes and shimmery browns and golds (as above)
4: Blended the eyeshadow
5: Applied eyeliner
6: Applied liquid liner
7: Mascara
8: Lipliner and lipstick in pretty pinks
Top Tips I learnt
- A foundation flower is the way to apply foundation, basically you apply from the nose outwards in a flower formation
- Dab concealer
- Concealer can be applied before, after or before and after foundation, your preference
- When applying eyeshadow, a lighter colour than your skin tone should be used as your base colour, this will highlight the eyes.
- Once again, if your foundation doesn’t have an SPF, be sure to apply one before foundation usage
After the experience I was treated to some Estee Lauder skin care goodies and a huge bouquet of beautiful flowers.
I had a great day and can’t wait for next counter experience.

So I took the plunge and bought an Essence lipstick and I am glad to say that once again it hasn’t disappointed.
I chose Prom Night as I am more of a light lipstick girl and can’t resist pinks. I was impressed with the results after applying it, here’s why:
- It has a beautiful shimmer and shine, looks glossy on my lips which are normally dry and chipped looking when wearing a lipstick (I have to put gloss over) but it seems I can wear this on it’s own
- It moisturizes my lips and doesn’t leave them feeling sticky or dry
- It’s good value for money, R30 a tube
- It gives off a pearl look which is always welcome
- Application is smooth and even
I am not too sure about the lasting power because I actually took it off about three hours after application, but if I have to redo it every three hours, I’m pretty happy, considering the price and the pros I hav picked up so far.

We have seen MAC collaborate with Miss Piggy and Daphne Guiness, but the newest icon is Gossip singer, Beth Ditto.
The range is set to be available from June, however MAC have released a preview
I personally don’t know much about Beth Ditto but apparently she has a good eye for makeup and enjoys doing it for her friends etc.
What I do know is that I love this promo shot and I do love MAC.
