Getting the red carpet right: SAG Awards

Yay for another awards evening!

The SAG Awards took place last night so of course I must share my favorite red carpet looks with you…

Turns out I liked the ladies in blue, starting with Marion Cottilard in Dior, of course

Chanel Spring 2013 Ad Campaign

New year, new campaigns and some new Chanel eye candy :)

The first thing I noticed about this campaign was the hula hoop bag, now a smaller, more wearable version of what we saw on the catwalk last year.

ChanelSpring6

Did you know the hula hoop bags are designed to be the perfect practical beach bag because they don’t sink into the sand and the upper loop can be used for drying one’s bikini on? Once again proving Lagerfeld to be a genius!

The campaign was shot in a Japanese tea room and features monochrome hues and prints. It’s not my favorite but I still enjoyed looking at it.

Yay or Nay: Jennifer Lawrence for Dior

Raf Simons has announced that Jennifer Lawrence (Catniss from The Hunger Games) as the new face of the Dior 2013 ad campaign.

Why was Jennifer first choice?

“Like the whole world I first discovered Jennifer Lawrence as a young action hero. I was of course struck by her unbelievable on screen presence in these ‘larger than life’ movies, but I was equally impressed by her powerful portrayal of more emotional and complex characters. Her youth and her classic beauty but also the feminine strength and complexity that she can portray at such a young age are for me very unique and very appealing.”

This, of course, means we say bye to current face, Mila Kunis, who has done a splendid job.

What do you think of Jennifer as the new face of Dior? Yay or Nay?

On this day in fashion history

In 2003, it emerged that various stars were allegedly being paid to appear in the front rows of New York Fashion Week. According to Sky News, superstar Beyoncé Knowles may have been offered up to $25,000.

ID Models boss Paolo Zampolli said that to pay stars for a front row appearance was standard practice. “It happens all the time in Milan,” he said. “It is quite common. Last year, we negotiated between £16,000 and £63,000 for Charlie Chaplin’s granddaughter Kiera Chaplin to sit at some shows.” Another insider added: “The contract to get Ricky Martin to sit in the front row at the Giorgio Armani show was 23 pages long.”

Pardon My French – Kate Spade

Kate Spades NYFW collection is mesmerizing, love the bright and quirky feel. I want all of it!

The styling of the Pardon my french tee is genius

NYFW: Christian Siriano

I must admit that I haven’t been paying enough attention to fashion week, but when I glanced over a few of the collections (not all, so I’ve probably missed some good ones) Christian Siriano spring 2013 collection stood out for me, mainly because of the pretty colour palette which was made up of nudes, pastels and pales.

The theme for the collection was inspired by the whimsical movement of ballet. And that’s probably what attracted me to this collection – the whimsical, pretty feel.

What do you think of the Siriano spring 2013 collection? Would you wear some of these ensembles?
