When I saw Georges Hobeika’s work I went to fash heaven, the colours!!!!! These designs are all so pretty and feminine that I imagine even a man would look beautiful in them. There is just no way that these works of art can’t transform a life.

Then of course we have Mr Lagerfeld with Chanel. This makes me think of Alice in Wonderland immediately (The Tim Burton version). That head gear is also pretty awesome! I would so admire/stare at anyone wearing one these ensembles

Weekly Wrap Up

201817627021126269_jXWpV8aw_c

Yay it’s Friday and for many of us, the first weekend after being back at work! If you’re like me, you’ve been in your own world of day dreams about the New Year has to offer and have also been pretty tired and lethargic throughout the week, so in case you missed any of this due to lack of interest to anything other than your bed, here is the weekly wrap up of fashion, celebs and anything worth mentioning…

- The awards season kicked off with the People’s Choice Awards and the general consensus was that Taylor Swift was once again, the best dressed. You can view my favorites here

The most successful winner on the night was The Hunger Games franchise

- Justin Bieber was allegedly snapped smoking pot which caused a Twitter frenzy. Fans created a hashtag #cutforbieber and were cutting themselves in protest of him “smoking” the pot (I searched the hashtag, it wasn’t pretty)

- Chanel’s Spring ad campaign was released and caused controversy because of two young models used in the campaign. The campaign has a Japenese feel, you can view the campaign here

- Mila Kunis (who was voted sexiest woman alive by GQ magazine just a few months ago) was dubbed by New York News Daily as the “frumpiest” celeb

- Kate Middleton (who the world seems to be obsessed with) turned 31 on Monday 09 January

- Britney Spears quit X Factor, since I watched the season she was on, I must say it is the best thing for the viewers as well as her career.

- Apparently Taylor Swift is back in the recording studio, which of course is probably inspired by the Harry Styles breakup (I don’t mind though, as long as she keeps making music as good as the stuff on her album RED)

- The Oscar nominations were announced, you can view the list here

- Emma Stone stunned once again in a ravishing red Lanvin dress

- On a more personal note, I compiled a list of 5 fashion items to own for 2013 for All4Women, it may just inspire a new look or a shopping spree http://all4women.co.za/fashion-and-beauty/fashion/5-fashion-items-to-own-for-2013.html go have a read

That’s all for now, have a happy weekend lovelies

Chanel Spring 2013 Ad Campaign

New year, new campaigns and some new Chanel eye candy :)

The first thing I noticed about this campaign was the hula hoop bag, now a smaller, more wearable version of what we saw on the catwalk last year.

ChanelSpring6

Did you know the hula hoop bags are designed to be the perfect practical beach bag because they don’t sink into the sand and the upper loop can be used for drying one’s bikini on? Once again proving Lagerfeld to be a genius!

The campaign was shot in a Japanese tea room and features monochrome hues and prints. It’s not my favorite but I still enjoyed looking at it.

Fashion Flashback: The 1950s

1950s-fashionThe 1950s was a time when fashion changed and is a time I am absolutely fascinated with. I always say I was born in the wrong era because I would have loved to see how things worked back in the day. Luckily for Google I can get all sorts of information and pictures which helps me imagine what it was like.

The ready to wear industry, the Chanel Suit and gloves were born in the 1950s and while ready to wear is still pretty much a part of life as we know it now, everything else is not as big a part. When last did you see a lady wearing long white gloves?

Elegance and grace are two words that come to mind when I think of the 50s.

While doing my research on this era, I was stunned and excited to see that the likes of Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, Ferragamo, Gucci, Jacques Fath, Lanvin, Pierre Balmain, Cristobel Balenciaga, Burberry were the big labels and designers even back then which excites me because there are years of history and knowledge behind these labels that we still, to this day, want/drool over/long for.

What else was big in the 50s? peep toe shoes, knitwear (cardigans and sweaters) the cowl neck, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and of course the king, Elvis Presley

And now you can see why the 1950s has got me so fascinated!

On this day in fashion history

2007, Karl Lagerfeld agreed to shoot a Dior Homme campaign despite his position as creative director of rival brand Chanel. Kris Van Assche, who replaced Hedi Slimane at the head of the label in March that year, revealed to WWD that Lagerfeld was on board to photograph the ad campaign for his debut Dior Homme collection..

Karl had always been an outspoken fan of the label – even accrediting his weight loss to it: “I suddenly wanted to dress differently, to wear clothes designed by Hedi Slimane,” he said at the time. “But these fashions, modelled by very, very slim boys – and not men my age – required me to lose at least 40kg.”

A legend at work – Coco Chanel

My admiration for Coco Chanel and love for the brand is obvious so when I came across these pictures of Mademoiselle herself, at work, I allowed myself to imagine what it was like in her day, what it was like to be her, and what it would have been like to know her.

She aged gracefully and remained elegant even when smoking – which is a hard task.

7 Things: Happiness in a picture

There are a lot of things that make me happy and the list of what I love is endless (I love this, I love that) but I found this picture and guess what, I loved it… because it has things I love in it

1. Animals – specifically my cat Tequila but any animal makes ooooh and aaaaah

2. Pink – if you hadn’t noticed pink is my favorite colour, I always go for pink first

3. Shoes – no explanation needed, we all know what its like to love shoes

4. Ice-Cream, I will never ever say no to Ice-Cream

5. Chanel – That little sparkly bow tie says Chanel on it so obviously it makes me happy

6. Cupcakes/cake/dessert/chocolate – You get why I put all of those together, they fit into the sweet treats category and anything sweet makes me happy :)

7. Accessories – whether its pet accessories or accessories for myself, I love them!

Tell me about what makes you happy… And look out for round two of what makes me happy
