So Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent went head to head for the red sole.
For those of you who don’t know Christian Louboutin is a French footwear designer who launched his line of high-end women’s shoes in France in 1991. Since 1992, his designs have incorporated the shiny, red-lacquered soles that have become his signature
The reason for this whole issue was that some of YSL’s heels from the ”2011 Cruise Collection” featured red soles and Louboutin feels that red soles are his thing.
The end result favoured Yves Saint Laurent with a simple “Attempting to trademark a colour is taking things abit too far”
Judge Marrero’s judgement was final and he even added that the idea of red soles was “copied from King Louis XIV’s red-heeled dancing shoes or Dorothy’s famous ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz
